Seniors For Seniors “Senior Citizens for Senior Dogs”

Starting May 21, Laura’s Hope Rescue is sponsoring their first “Senior Citizens for Senior Dogs” initiative to unite humans and dogs that are in the same period of their lives.

Some might think that senior dogs come with more problems; on the contrary, says Hope Benson Simmons of Laura’s Hope Rescue. “Senior dogs are already trained, which is a huge advantage for their future families. They aren’t interested in chewing and scratching your home and furniture up, either. They’re grateful to have a home and the love they show their fosters and new owners is unconditional.”

Marie Conner fostered 8.5 year old Sadie for several months before deciding to permanently add her to the family and she’s never regretted it. “I think an older dog is easier to deal with…Sadie is still playful. She plays fetch and gallops all over! But she’s also willing to take a nap as well.”

At shelters and rescues near you, there are loving and healthy seniors just like Sadie looking for a special home to keep them safe until they find their forever families. All they require is a warm place to sleep, good meals and plenty of love and attention. Laura’s Hope Rescue covers all medical visits, food and supplies for families willing to foster dogs.

Seniors willing to help other seniors in need can contact the rescue at (570) 280-2083 or e-mailing: laurashoperescue@gmail.com A complete list of the rescue’s pets can be found at: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/PA714.html.
